Facade restoration for Brooklyn buildings, planned around narrow sites, shared walls and street access.

Every property is different, so the starting point is always a look at the building rather than a price over the phone. Once we have seen it you get the scope, the materials and the figures in writing, and nothing begins until you have agreed to them.

When might you need it?

These are the signs owners usually notice first.

  • Stained, dirty or tired looking exterior surfaces
  • Paint peeling, blistering or flaking away from the substrate
  • Water marks and white salt bloom showing on brickwork
  • Coatings applied over damp or unprepared surfaces that failed early
  • A building front that no longer reflects what happens inside it

What the work involves

  • Survey of the elevation and the condition of the existing finish
  • Cleaning down and removing loose or failed material
  • Making good cracks, holes and damaged render before any coating
  • Priming and sealing surfaces appropriate to the substrate
  • Applying finishes in the specified number of coats
  • Protecting windows, doors, paving and planting throughout
  • Full clean down and a walkthrough at completion

How the process works

01

Site assessment

We look at the elevation, test the existing finish and find out why the last one failed.

02

Scope and method

Preparation, materials and coats are written down before work starts.

03

Protection and setup

Access and protection for the surrounding areas are arranged first.

04

Construction

Preparation, then coating, in the sequence and conditions the material needs.

05

Final review

We walk the elevation with you in daylight and pick up anything outstanding.

What you get

  • A clean, considered street presence
  • Finishes that hold up to New York weather
  • Surfaces properly prepared before anything is applied
  • Problems found and dealt with rather than painted over

Frequently asked questions

Why did my last paint job fail so quickly?

Usually preparation, moisture in the substrate, or a coating applied in the wrong temperature. We check all three before quoting.

Can you paint in winter?

Some coatings need a minimum temperature to cure. We will tell you whether your project can run now or is better scheduled.

Is power washing safe on old brick?

At the wrong pressure it is not. Older, softer masonry needs a gentler method, and we set the approach to the substrate.
