Frequently asked questions
Why does my door swing on its own?
Usually the frame is out of plumb, so the door is effectively hanging downhill. Adjusting the hinges only helps a little; the frame is the real fix.
Can a door be trimmed to fit?
Within limits. Doors have a solid edge that can be reduced, and taking too much off compromises the door. Very large gaps are better solved at the frame.
Why does the latch not catch?
Usually the strike plate is out of alignment with the latch. It is a small adjustment, though it sometimes indicates the frame has moved.
