Project overview
A mixed use building needed work on the upper elevation while the storefront underneath carried on trading. A suspended platform gave access to the upper floors without closing the sidewalk for the length of the job.
The existing problem
The elevation above the shopfront had deteriorated where nobody could reach it easily, and the ground floor could not afford to lose its entrance to a full scaffold. Access was the constraint that shaped the whole method.
Work completed
- Suspended platform rigged and access agreed with the building owner
- Sidewalk protection installed over the entrance
- Upper elevation surveyed close up from the platform
- Loose and failed material cut out and made good
- Repairs worked in drops so the shop kept its entrance
- Platform struck and the sidewalk cleared at completion
The result
The upper elevation was brought back to sound condition and the business below traded through the whole programme.
