About carpentry and interior finishes
Finishes are what people actually touch. Why do my walls look wavy after a previous job?
Usually the drywall was finished to a lower level than the lighting demanded. A wall under raking light from a window or a downlight needs a higher finish level than one lit from the front.
Is custom millwork worth it over stock?
It is when the space is not standard, which in older New York buildings it rarely is. Out of square walls, odd alcoves and non standard ceiling heights are where stock stops fitting and starts looking like it was made to.
Can finishes be done while we live in the property?
Often yes, room by room, with dust control and protected routes. Flooring and interior painting are the two stages that usually need a space cleared.
