Project overview

A roof that had been patched more than once was stripped back to the deck. Until the old covering is off, nobody can say honestly what condition the boards underneath are in.

The existing problem

Repeated patching had hidden how far the water had already travelled. Layers of old covering and felt were holding damp against the deck, and the only way to size the job accurately was to take it all off and look.

Work completed

  • Old covering and felt stripped back to the boards
  • Deck inspected board by board and soft sections marked
  • Damaged boards cut out and replaced
  • Debris cleared from the roof and the ground as work progressed
  • Deck dried and prepared before the new build up went down

The result

The new covering went onto a sound, dry deck rather than over the top of the problem.
