Project overview
New masonry built as part of a wider construction project, set out to align with the existing coursing so the new and old read as one wall.
The existing problem
New work meeting old masonry shows every difference in coursing, colour and joint width. Getting that right is a setting out problem before it is a bricklaying one.
Work completed
- Setting out to align coursing with the existing wall
- Brick and mortar matched to the surrounding masonry
- Wall built with movement provision where required
- Joints finished to match the existing profile
- Wall protected while curing
The result
The new masonry lines through with the existing wall rather than sitting beside it as an obvious addition.
